Android Malware Hits Smartphone When Connected To PC!

Malware attacks on Android are becoming increasingly common across the globe. Based on reports developed by leading research firms, the future of Android malware attacks is highly dangerous. Infact, 2013 could see bigger threat coming from the operating system, which is being adopted by almost 75 per cent of the smartphones globally.

Over the course of time, the malware attacks are expected to become complex, which will make it even more difficult for users and developers to detect. One such malware has recently been discovered, which combines the use of a Windows PC with an Android-based smartphone. The reported malware, DroidCleaner can result in malfunctioning of the devices, when connected. The app in actuality is acting like a cleaner on the Play Store.

Discovered by Kaspersky, the DroidCleaner is capable of disrupting even normal usage. The moment the app is installed on your phone, it can send SMS messages, enable Wi-Fi, gather information about the device, open arbitrary links in a browser, upload the SD card's entire contents and text messages to the master's server. Apart from this, the said malware can also delete all SMS messages or read, write and upload all the contacts, photos and location data from the device to the server.

Making things more complicated, the app downloads three files to the root directory of your internal SD card, and opens up a backdoor to your PC when it is connected to the smartphone in USB drive mode. So make sure your connected devices are thoroughly scanned before you puth them in use.

In addition to all those mishaps, the app can control your microphone to spy on you and send recordings back to the master server.
